Please make certain that you have already read our Acceptable Use Policy. Records that do not meet our criteria will be edited or deleted, at our sole discretion.
The expert form has fields to enter a business address, phone and fax numbers. If your site is personal, you do NOT need to give your home street address or home phone number. (But fill-in the name of your city and state so that you will be correctly placed geographically).
Adding a New URL
After you fill-in the information in the form, you should select Add in the selection box Operation. This selection box is the very first one at the top of the form. Then click the button labeled Add!.
The form should be processed. If entry was successful, you should see a text message Sucess! printed on the space immediately above the form. You might also see an error message. If so, correct the information and re-attempt the submission.
Updating an Old URL
If previously you have registered an URL with us, then it may be possible to edit all or some of the information for it. For this, you will first need to Inspect your URL. Enter the exact URL of your web site in the box that starts with http://. Enter your password in the box labeled Password. Then select Inspect from the select box called Operation. This is the very first selection box at the top of the form. Then click the button labeled Inspect!.
If successful, the Inspect operation returns a form filled with the information available on the database for the Internet address that you specified. Now, modify and update this information according to your wishes, but also keeping in mind our Acceptable Use Policy. Re-enter your password in the appropiate box. Then, select Update in the selection box called Operation. Again, this is the very first selection box at the top of the form. Finally, click the button labeled Update!.
The form should be processed. If entry was successful, you should see a text message Sucess! printed on the space immediately above the form. You might also see an error message. If so, correct the information and re-attempt the Update.
Common Problems
Please read our Acceptable Use Policy, so that you will know which links are not acceptable in our directory.
Add: Record is system locked. Your record is already in our database. Most likely, we added it because we thought it was an important web site. To prevent anyone from modifying the information, we locked it. In general, we will be very happy to release the lock if this is your web site. Just write to webmaster@ipr.net stating that you own or are in charge of the web site in question. In some cases, we might require some proof that the web site is really in your care.
Inspect: Record is not in database. Most likely, you have a typo in your URL. You must use the exact URL that appears in the confirmation notice that you received after your web site was reviewed. Even one character wrong will cause Inspect to not find your record. Note that you must have already Added your record using the form, before it can be Inspected!
Add: Form insists on altering my URL! This is normal. In general, the form knows what it does and the modified URL leads to the same page as the unmodified one. The following are common URL transformations:
Add: Password must be entered twice. We require that you enter your password in the two boxes provided. The redundancy helps detect typos that would otherwise prevent you from updating your record at a later date.
Add, Update: Javascript error in descriptions that contain a quote ' character. Solution: try preceding it with a slash "\".
Add, Update: form requires that I enter my name. Yes, this is a requirement. We must know who you are. By default, we do not list your name in the directory... it is just for our knowledge. The expert form provides an option to allow you to list your name, if you want to.
Add, Update: form requires that I enter my e-mail address. Yes, this is a requirement. We will send your confirmation notice and final approval notice to this address. If it bounces, your record is out! By default, we do not list your e-mail address in the directory... it is just for our internal use. The expert form provides two options to allow you to list your e-mail address, if you want to. One of the options also allows you to list your address, but with modifications that discourage automated harvesting by spammers.
